The men’s and women’s road cycling races and time trials will hit the streets of Kingston in Summer 2012.
On Saturday 28 July, the men’s race will take to the streets of London starting at The Mall. Riders will make their way through to Richmond Park via Putney Bridge and then they will head through to Twickenham and Teddington en route to Hampton Court.
The riders will cross Hampton Court Bridge and head out into the rolling countryside, ancient woodland and picturesque villages of Surrey. Following nine zigzag circuits around Box Hill, the riders will head back to central London. It is on this return leg that the riders will race through Kingston.
The women will do the same route with only two circuits around Box Hill.
The time trials for the men's and women’s races will start at Hampton Court Bridge on 1 August and they will enter Kingston via the Portsmouth Road, passing through the Market Place, before heading over Kingston Bridge to make their way back to Hampton Court.
London Organising Committee of the Games (LOCOG) and Transport for London (TfL) are working closely with the Local Authority and its partners to plan traffic and crowd management.
