Albany Park Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
Albany Park Canoe and Sailing Centre works closely with groups, Schools and individuals undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Programme. We work hard to assist young people in achieving their objectives and developing new skills, whilst encouraging participants to accept real ownership of their DofE Programme throughout the training and completion stages of the Award.
Drawing on the expertise available from the team at Albany Park Canoe & Sailing Centre undoubtedly gives participants the ideal start to their DofE Programme.
We offer expert tuition and opportunities to undertake a wide range of activities to complete the physical and expedition sections.
DofE participants may wish to access Albany in order to take on a new skill for the physical section. There are a range of options for this, including working towards a Governing Body award such as an RYA or BCU award or by undertaking training at taster level in a range of different watersports, the choice is yours.
Many Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants take to the hills thinking this is the only option open to them as a means of completing their expedition section, but at Albany Park there are a few other options available. Over the years, many groups have completed the expedition section on water, mostly using open canoes. At the Bronze level, for example, you can take part in a training programme covering open canoe training and expedition techniques, equipping you with the skills to complete your physical and Expedition sections.
All Bronze participants must be minimum aged 14 and in Year 10. Silver participants must be minimum aged 15 and in Year 11. Albany Park do not offer Gold level.
Please note our current Bronze group is now underway and full.
We are not currently running a Silver group.
