Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge Scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for:
- drivers or passengers with severe walking difficulties or who are registered blind
- people who hold a driving licence and have a severe impairment in both upper limbs and who are unable to operate, or have great difficulty in operating, all or some types of parking meter
- children under 3 years with certain serious medical conditions requiring the transportation of bulky medical equipment or who need to be kept near a vehicle at all times in order to be treated in the vehicle or to be taken immediately to a place where they can be treated
- Service personel and veterans who meet the criteria as specified in the 'Disabled Service Personnel addendum'.
- Blue Badge allows holders to park close to their destination.
Freedom Passes
The Freedom Passes can be used to travel free on Transport for London buses, the tube, trams, Docklands Light Railway, at any time and national rail within Greater London after 9.30am. More information is given with the Pass. Freedom Passes are funded by the Royal Borough of Kingstont.
There are three types of Pass:
- Disabled Persons Pass (National scheme)
- Discretionary Pass (London-only)
- Older Persons Pass (National scheme)
Taxicards
The London Taxicard Scheme allows people with serious and permanent walking difficulties, to travel in licensed black cabs at subsidised rates.
To be eligible for Taxicard you must be registered blind or receive one of the following:
the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance
War pension·Mobility Supplement
OR:
Be unable to use buses/ trains because of blindness/permanent or long term disability/ illness, which makes walking difficult for you.
