We are pleased to publish this local account of adult social care performance in 2010/2011.

This is the first year that we have produced an account of our performance in this way. Prior to 2010/2011 the Care Quality Commission carried out an annual assessment of adult social care. It will no longer do this as authorities now have more freedom and opportunity to manage and report on their performance locally, within an overarching Department of Health framework.

We believe that we have a good track record of involving people who use adult social care support in service improvement. We would be pleased to hear your views about our performance in 2010/2011 and any additional areas that you would like us to report on next year.
