We are responsible for street cleaning throughout the borough on all public roads and pavements. This excludes some private roads.
The cleaning consists of the collection and removal of all litter and dirt including: grit, detritus, debris, leaves, dead vegetation, excreta, cans, cartons, paper, debris from road traffic accidents and any other waste matter from the highways.
The frequency of cleansing varies from continuous or daily in the town centres to every three weeks in most residential streets.
We also have a statutory duty to remove any motor vehicle abandoned on any land, or highway in the open air. We are working with the Police to try and combat the crime of graffiti and fly-tipping borough-wide.
