Composting is nature's recycling service.  It allows households to recycle a substantial amount of their waste – including vegetable peelings, fruit waste, teabags, grass cuttings, cut flowers, paper kitchen towels, egg shells and cereal boxes – without it ever leaving their home.

If it is buried in landfill sites, this biodegradable waste lets off methane as it rots 'anaerobically' (without the presence of air). Methane is a harmful greenhouse gas that is 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. But in a compost bin, the presence of air completely changes the way the waste decomposes and methane is no longer released.

Kingston Council has joined up with the bin manufacturer, Blackwall, a division of Straight Plc in order to continue offering our residents a Home Composting Scheme with compost bins delivered to your door at bargain prices!

This service offers:

• Home delivery - for fixed fee - delivery guaranteed within 28 days but all within 21 and most within 14.

The bins are made from recycled plastic and have a 5-10 year guarantee depending on the product.

• Payments can be made on line using the link below and one of the following credit cards
• Payments can be made over the telephone by calling  0845 130 6090 and using one of the following credit cards
• Accepted Credit cards are:  VISA, Mastercard, Maestro/Switch or VISA Electron
• Payment is not taken from the card until the bin(s) have been delivered
• There is not currently a "pay by post" option but the Council will attempt to negotiate for this if the demand justifies the requirement
