Most children are able to get to and from school by walking, cycling or using public transport. In some cases, children may share car journeys with friends and family. However, a small number of children will be unable to make this journey without some help, and Kingston Local Authority (LA) may provide transport assistance in these cases.
Whenever a parent would like us to consider their child for some transport assistance, they must submit an application to us, in the form of a Parent Questionnaire.
You will find a link below to the information we issue to parents, SEN Transport - Parent Guidance. This outlines the main points of the SEN Transport Policy, including details of timing, arrangements for pick-ups and drop-offs and parental responsibility.
Any concerns or queries you have, may already be answered in our section SEN Transport - Frequently Asked Questions.
Are you MOVING HOME? Please complete our Change of Address Form, at the bottom of the page. Further details about this are on the form.
For our full SEN Transport Policy, including details of the criteria used when assessing assistance and transport arrangements, please click on the link below.
In some cases, where the LA agrees to provide help, it reimburses mileage costs to parents who take their children to school. Where this assistance has been authorised by the Authority, parents will receive confirmation of this in writing and they may use the appropriate link to view, and print, a copy of the claim form which needs to be completed for each term's travel, and view the guidance notes we have included for completing this form.
