If you are having lessons with KMS and are considering buying an instrument, then you may wish to take advantage of this service - it will mean that you can purchase an instrument VAT free.

Kingston Music Service (KMS) can purchase the instrument you choose on your behalf from your desired retailer. We will order your instrument for you and contact you when it’s ready to collect.

You will not have to pay VAT on your instrument purchase^†, but an administration charge applies and KMS can not pay for any delivery charges.

Choose an instrument from a music shop, a dealer or from the Internet.

1. Fill in the form (which you can download from the link at the bottom of the page) and give us full details to enable us to make the purchase for you on your behalf - give us the make of instrument, model number, price, retailer’s details, etc.
2. Make a cheque payable to “Royal Borough of Kingston” or simply “RBK” for the net amount of the purchase - this is the cost of the instrument (ex VAT); any delivery charges which may apply in order to have the instrument delivered to the KMS office address; and the administration charge which is applicable to all orders - please contact KMS for details of current charges.
3. Send KMS the completed form and cheque payment. The instrument will then be ordered for you.
4. KMS will let you know when the instrument is ready for collection.

In order to use this service, the following criteria must be satisfied:

1. The purchase must be on behalf of a student in full time education at an LEA school.
2. The purchase must be on behalf of a student receiving tuition through KMS.
3. The instrument must be appropriate for the student's needs.
4. The instrument must be portable.
5. The instrument must change hands on educational premises.
