Kingston Children and Young People’s Trust is working to improve co-ordination of services around children and young people rather than service priorities. It brings together agencies such as Education, Health, Social Services, the Police, Connexions, the Local Learning and Skills Council and the voluntary sector which are developing shared ways of working and reducing duplication. The vision for the trust is to have excellent integrated services to support children, young people, adults and families. Our overwhelming goal is to achieve the best outcomes for the Children and Young People so that they:
The Trust has the support and commitment of senior officers of the council and other agencies who make up the Children and Young People’s Trust Board. This Board is responsible for agreeing priorities, commissioning services for children and young people and monitoring the effectiveness of our work in improving the outcomes for children and young people.
The priorities and objectives for improving outcomes for children and young people are set out in the Children and Young People’s Plan 2009 – 2013.
The Children and Young People’s Partnership is responsible for ensuring the Plan is regularly monitored, evaluated and reviewed.
Ofsted make judgements on the effectiveness of our Children’s Services in improving outcomes for children and young people through the Annual Children’s Services Rating. The 2010 rating is ‘performs excellently’ and the report states that “the very large majority of services, settings and institutions inspected by Ofsted are good or outstanding and very little is inadequate. Most provision is highly effective in helping children and young people learn and stay safe”. The 2010 letter advising our rating is attached below.
This is the fourth year that children’s Services in Kingston has achieved an outstanding judgement from Ofsted and confirms that we continue to build on the excellent foundations that we have created across the full range of services for children and young people. The achievement of this excellent rating acknowledges the effective partnership working across the Children’s Trust.
