The Community Plan has been produced by the Kingston Community Leadership Forum, a partnership organisation representing all sectors of the Kingston Borough Community. The Community Plan is an exciting new approach to the way we organise the wide range of public services available to the people of Kingston regardless of whether they are provided by the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is based on the simple notion that by working together service providers will be able to improve the quality of life for those who live, work in or visit our Borough.
The Plan sets out a ten-year vision for the Borough and key targets which the partnership will aim to achieve over this period.
The Plan is organised into six key themes. These themes are based on the results of a piece of work carried out by the research organisation MORI. The public, the Council’s main partners, Councillors and Council workers were asked about their views on the Borough and what they would like to see happening over the next ten years. From this the following six themes were identified:
Although these reflect the main priorities there are other issues, such as social inclusion and equalities which are so important that they cut across all the themes. Each key theme has a group that is working in partnership to address the main issues of this theme and along with the Community Leadership Forum they will make sure that the targets are implemented.
The Community Leadership Forum wants the Community Plan to be a living document that will set a framework for discussion between the various service providers and the wider Kingston Borough community.
