In a joint initiative Kingston Register Office and Kingston University's Centre for Local History Studies set up a project to create a database of Kingston's 19th century records incorporating many of the Marriage Indexes from 1842 to 1902.
Volunteers from the Centre have transcribed the records and the Council is now able to provide the Indexes on-line which will help provide a reference for anyone searching to find the original details from the many thousands that are held.
If you wish to trace your family history, then this free information may help you locate the reference for marriage entries in our Registers.
You can obtain a copy certificate for a modest fee by post or by calling in person at our office during our opening hours. It is our aim to deal with your application within 2 working days.
These indexes contain information about marriages which took place at the Register Office and at churches throughout the Kingston upon Thames area. (They do not however, contain information about Church of England Marriages). Please remember that District and County boundaries have changed several times since 1842 and the indexes will reflect this.
