The Women on Wheels seminar held at Kingston Hospital in September 2005 raised the need for gentle, social cycle rides for women. Led by Nationally Accredited Cyclist Instructors, these Women on Wheels rides provide an opportunity for inexperienced women cyclists to get together and to undertake a 2-3 hour social ride along off road and quiet road routes.
No need to book, just turn up and take part. The aim is that participants will feel enabled to set out on modest rides by themselves or with likeminded friends, old and new. So spread the word and invite friends and family along!
The Women on Wheels rides take place on the last Sunday of every month. Meet outside Borders Bookshop, Market Place, Kingston at 10.00am.
For further information, please contact Kingston Council’s Cyclist Training Coordinator, on 020 8547 5865 or email cycling@rbk.kingston.gov.uk.
Please note: These rides are mainly off-road and are marshalled by experienced cyclists. They are suitable for people who have a reasonable control of a bicycle, including starting and stopping quickly, swerving to avoid objects, looking around, and including behind. They are not suitable for complete beginners.
