The good going campaign has generated over 5200 good going pledges across 31 participating boroughs in London. Kingston residents have signed almost 10% of these pledges – a tremendous effort!
The Royal Borough has maintained contact with these residents through bi-monthly newsletters and introduced many others to the sustainable travel options through recent events including the Green Fair, Walk to Work Week, Bike Week and the Walking to School Summer Campaign.
James Parker, Road Safety and Travel Awareness Manager said; “I am delighted that Kingston has received this award which should raise the profile of sustainable transport options in the Borough even more. We are committed to encouraging residents to take advantage of the opportunities and we will continue to work hard to raise awareness in this year’s forthcoming good going Week” (more details over the page).
For further information about the award, contact the Council's Travel Awareness Officer on 020 8547 5876 or anne.sharman@rbk.kingston.gov.uk
As part of the good going campaign, Londoners are asked to sign a good going pledge. Once you become a good going pledge holder, you’ll be given a loyalty card.
This entitles you to take up special offers across London .... our way of saying thanks for helping to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the Capital.
A whole range of new offers have just been released by the good going campaign office, including:-

Kingston Council is working towards accreditation to the National Standard for its Cyclist Training scheme. To help us achieve this and to expand the range and frequency of services we offer residents in the borough, we are looking to invest in the training and development of 12 Cyclist Training Instructors.

The 12 trainees will attend a rigorous 4-day programme that provides a comprehensive grounding in how to run a safe and effective cyclist training course. On completion, all participants will be accredited to National Standard and able to deliver cyclist training at Levels 1, 2 and 3 as a freelancer or on a permanent basis.
The 4-day course will run over two consecutive weekends in October.
What we’re looking for?
It is essential that you are able to cycle competently and confidently and have regular experience of a variety of traffic conditions. You should also understand principles of safe cycling and be familiar with current theory of safe cycling and / or express willingness to learn.
It’s desirable that you have experience in a teaching, training or instructing role or experience of cyclist training as an assistant or volunteer.
You must also have a love of cycling, a fun and enthusiastic personality and real desire to help adults and children of all ages cycle more!
If this programme and the cyclist training opportunities it presents are of interest to you, please call the Council’s Cyclist Training Co-ordinator for more information on 020 8547 5826.
