Christmas card comp winner

Kingston’s Road Safety and Travel Awareness Secondary School Council

During the Autumn of 2006 the Road Safety and Travel Awareness Unit brought together secondary school students to focus on the issues associated with road safety and travel awareness in Kingston.  This group is now called the ‘Road Safety and Travel Awareness Secondary School Council’.

The first task given to the School Council was to design a Christmas card to highlight their good work.  Designs came flooding in and the winning illustration drawn by Emma Gittus, 15 years old, a student at Coombe Girls’ School was chosen to front the card.

Future plans for the Secondary School Council are to design a flyer to promote Bikeability Level 3 training to pupils, organise bike maintenance sessions at their respective schools and think of ideas for a Valentine’s day event to promote road safety.

Another task given to the representatives is to rename the School Council as the current name is a little unwieldy.  If you can come up with a snappier title for our group (Road Safety and Travel Awareness Secondary School Council) then please send your suggestions to travel.awareness@rbk.kingston.gov.uk

The winning suggestion will win £30 of gift vouchers of their own choice.
