A School Travel Plan is a whole school initiative that not only has benefits for the school and school community, but for the wider community also. These include:-

For the community:

• less time spent sitting in traffic congestion
• provides travel options that are free or cheaper than using a private car

For employees:

• cycling or walking to work provides an opportunity for daily exercise
• increased awareness of the range of travel options available, many of which are cheaper, more convenient and less time consuming than driving

For schools:

• identification of engineering solutions to improve Road Safety around schools
