Here you will find many of the resources required to write and implement an effective travel plan, from survey templates to planning applications.

Planning Applications

Current policy requires that planning permission must be obtained prior to the installation of a cycle parking facility or similar construction on your school site. Please see below for planning application guidance.

Postcode Plots

We can produce a postcode plot for your school to include in your School Travel Plan (STP), Annual Review or Three Yearly Rewrite.

Postcode plots can be helpful for:

  • Checking the catchment area of the school and the potential for cycling and walking
  • Establishing possible car sharing matches
  • Identifying potential routes for a Road Safety Walking audit

To receive a postcode plot email a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with a separate list of pupil and/or staff postcodes to:

Funding Opportunities

National Lottery Grants. Schools can bid for grants between £300 and £10k, towards projects that will improve local communities and the lives of people most in need. For example, a bid could be placed to fund the delivery of bikeability cyclist instruction. Information correct as of 20 February 2010.
