We have money this year to implement a 20mph limit in Lower Marsh Lane and the surrounding area. The roads included in the 20mph limit area are shown on the plans below. There will no further traffic calming (e.g. speed humps and cushions) installed as part of the scheme. Instead the scheme will be marked with new signs and “20” roundels painted in the road. There are examples of “20” roundels in Lingfield Avenue.
By law, we need a traffic order before we can put in the 20mph. The process for this began on 24 September 2008 when an advert was published in the Surrey Comet. We also put notices on lamp posts within the 20mph area.
The objection period has now ended and we have received one objection to the proposal. This objection was considered by the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee at its meeting on Wednesday 10 December 2008. At this meeting the Committee set aside the objection, which means that the 20mph limit in the area can be implemented. You are able to view the agenda and the Committee minutes using the link at the bottom of the page.
The 20mph limit became operational on Monday 2 March 2009.
