Streetworks and Traffic Updates

Traffic Updates 18 May 2012

Current and “about to start” Street and Road Works (moderate to severe disruption)

Chessington

Cox Lane:

From Mount Road to Jubilee Way.

The works to lay two High Voltage electricity cables to supply a new business have now been completed.  The Council is arranging to have the carriageway entirely resurfaced although the date is still to be confirmed.

Kingston

Richmond Road:

Between Latchmere Road and Kings Road.

Southern Gas Networks are relaying services in the footway from 8 May until 30 June 2012 using pedestrian walkways in the cycle lane of the carriageway.

Eastbury Road:

Road closed due to engineering difficulties in the Richmond Road works.  Local diversion in place for resdents' access.

New Malden

High Street:

The Council's contractors are carrying out footway works and kerb line alterations from 10 April 2012 for 7 weeks.  Use of temporary traffic signals wll be necessary at times.

Tolworth:

Kingston Road (A 240 ):

Transport for London is carrying out carriageway re-surfacing works at night 21:00 until 05:00 commencing 17 May 2012 for 11 nights under a road closure with diversions.  The outer lanes of the roundabout and lane 1 on all approaches will also be closed.

Surbiton

Brighton Road:

Severe disruption expected!

  • The bridge has been successfully replaced by Network Rail.
  • 13 April to 11 May 2012 period of works now extended to a completion date of 25 May.  Southern Gas Networks have taken possession of the closed road to replace the old cast iron main in Brighton Road with new polyethylene pipes.

During the closure:

  • Kingston Council will improve the public highway under the bridge.
  • BT will replace a sunken cover.  (Completed).
  • Thames Water will install a meter on the main to monitor leakage on their network.  (Completed).
  • Network Rail will complete ancillary works (Signage, re-pointing of brickwork, pigeon proofing etc ).

Kingston

Gloucester Road:

Outside 33.

Thames Water working on a sewer manhole using traffic signals from 30 May for 3 days.

London Road:

The Council's contractors will work from 21:00 until 06:00 hours at the junctions of Coombe Road and from junctions with Queen Elizabeth Road and Albert Road from 21 May until 24 May 2012.

Surbiton

South Bank Terrace:

Councl's contractors are carrying out footway widening and entry treatment works from 21 May 2012 for 10 days.  A road closure will be in place.

Maple Road:

Outside 100.

Thames Water will undertake a sewer connection using traffic signals on 21 May 2012 for 10 days.

New Malden

Coombe Road:

Railway bridge.

Detailed examination of the rail bridge over the road on 23 May 2012 for 2 days between the hours of 22:00 until 02:00.  Temporary 2 way lights wil be used.

Kingston Road:

Outside 34 - 36.

Temporary 2 - way lights will be used on 23 May 2012 to enable a crane operation to take place to deliver concrete blocks to a new development ( 1st of 3 ).  Off peak only.

Kingston Road:

Between Montem Road and Stratford Court.

Council's contractors will be undertaking carriageway resurfacing works from 21 May 2012 for 5 nights between 20:00 and 05:00 hours.  Temporary traffic lights will be used.
