There is now one form to fill in when organising a street party or summer fete. This new approach follows a cross-Government agreement between Communities and Local Government, the Department for Transport, Department of Culture Media & Sport, as well as local Government and community groups such as the Big Lunch and Streets Alive.

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames will not be held responsible for any damage to property or injury to any person arising in connection with the street party or other event.
The organiser must arrange Public Liability Insurance providing an indemnity of at least £5 million for any accident indemnifying the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames against any liability. loss, costs, expenses, claims or proceedings whatsoever arising in respect of:
in consequence of or in any way arising out of the holding of a street party, except in so far as such loss, damage or injury shall be due to the negligence of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, its employees or agents.
A copy of the insurance indemnity must be sent to the Council before the event takes place. The Council will object to any party without the receipt of this insurance policy. (Please note that insurance is usually more expensive if you have fireworks).
