Every London Borough was asked by the Mayor of London to prepare a transport plan (the Local Implementation Plan) setting out how they would achieve the proposals set out in his Transport Strategy.
The Local Implementation Plan (LIP) is a Borough wide transport strategy which builds on and is consistent with strategies in both the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and the Community Plan and also represent the transport elements of the K+20 Area Action Plan. In producing the LIP the Council has taken the opportunity to update the Borough’s transport strategy to ensure it is properly integrated and coherent.
Consisting of 12 chapters the LIP is accompanied by a Strategic Environmental Assessment Statement which sets out what action has been taken by the Borough during development of the LIP, to produce a better environmental outcome.
A Draft LIP was published and submitted to Transport for London (TfL) in March 2005 and thrown open for public consultation. The Final LIP containing numerous modifications mainly deriving from the TfL response, comments from other consultees and committees, updated statistics, Government policies and local developments, was submitted to TfL in mid November. With some minor corrections and amendments that was approved by the Mayor on 9 March 2006 so the document now carries the title Approved Local Implementation Plan.
Hard copies of both documents will be available in the Borough’s libraries from late March 2006. A copy of each will be also available for inspection by the public at reasonable times and free of charge from:
