New! CTC and Kingston to jointly trial new CPD courses.

The Royal Borough of Kingston becomes the only London Local Authority recognised as an Instructor Training Organisation (ITO). The Department for Transport has awarded this accreditation to 18 best practice organisations in the country.
Operating since 2007, we have trained more than 300 instructors for local authorities and many other independent cyclist training providers.
The DfT now requires all Bikeability instructors to register with an ITO so that they can deliver training for Local Authorities and School Sports Partnerships funded schemes.
If you have not been trained by us please contact eric.chasseray@rbk.kingston.gov.uk providing your contact details and NSI number and we will contact you
We have helped many Local Authorities and organisations to make the testing transition from Cycle Proficiency to Bikeability. We offer management support and attending instructors meetings for large organisations.
We are accredited to deliver the following courses:
In today's society becoming a cycling instructor is more relevant than ever, promoting, as it does, the leisure, fun, health and environmental benefits of cycling, plus the fact that cycling is an inexpensive and sustainable form of everyday transport.
Whether you would like to make cycle training your full-time job or you just want to pass on some skills at your local school or youth club, undertaking the National Standard Instructor training is the first step.
We run Courses in New Malden in the Royal Borough of Kingston, close to the local train station. Cost is £400 per person excluding Post Course Assessment (PCA)
If you are a Bikeability provider, we can come to you. Cost is from £300 excluding PCA. You provide the venue.
PCAs give you full accreditation while we observe you working with real trainees. 2 sessions are usually required. We come to you and charge from £100 per session.
We charge additional travelling costs as required for delivering courses or sessions beyond a 20 mile radius of Kingston.

Cycle Training Providers are required to offer their instructors a minimum of three hours CPD (Continued Professional Development) per annum?
To quote the the Bikeability website; “All employees should be part of a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) where they are given the opportunity to improve and broaden their knowledge, skill and personal qualities. This is essential to maintain a high standard of cycle training in line with the National Standard and Bikeability’s overarching aims.”
