A new pilot project designed to get employees cycling to work was recently carried out by Kingston Council. The scheme, which was developed by the Company of Cyclists, provides employees with a bicycle, accessories, training, route planning and a "cycling buddy" .....; everything they need to get them on their bikes!

Kingston Council were asked by the Company of Cyclists and Transport for London to trial the scheme for the UK. 12 Council employees and 8 Kingston Primary Care Trust employees became "cycling guinea pigs" for the challenge period from 4 to 22 July. During this period, they were to try to cycle to work at least 50% of the time, thus becoming members of the "Cycle 50% Club".
