Kingston Boccia Team have a ball at London Youth Games

LYG Boccia Team

After 3 weeks of training, Kingston’s Boccia Team descended onto the Westway Sports Centre on Thursday 4 June to take on teams from 32 London Boroughs. Kingston was drawn against Barnet, Enfield, Hounslow and Richmond.

Kingston won the first game against Enfield comfortably, the next game was against Richmond which was a very close match that ended in a draw. Hounslow were Kingston’s next opponents and played a very good game of Boccia, Kingston played extremely well but were no match for Hounslow and subsequently lost this match. The final game saw Kingston play Barnet that Kingston again won comfortably.

Kingston finished second in their group but had to play in a playoff against two other boroughs that had finished second in their respective groups on the same amount of points as Kingston. One player from each team had to roll one ball and the team whose ball was closest to the jack went on to the quarter finals. It was a very tense moment for all involved and Kingston narrowly missed out on a quarter final place. We are awaiting the final results to see where Kingston finished.

Active Kingston would like to say a huge thank you to Bedelsford School and its pupils Ahmed Al Hassani, Angelina Engambe, Martin Dray & Kashif Shaikh for representing Kingston so brilliantly.
