The girls and boys cricket teams travelled to Harrow in February 2010 to compete for a place in the Final's at Lords Cricket Ground. Both the girls and boys were placed in a tough group with last year's champions Redbridge for the girls and finalists Hillingdon for the boys. Kingston batted and bowled their way to some impressive innings totals over the day, despite this the girls and boys both finished fourth in their groups. Kingstons coaching staff from Chessington Cricket Club and Surrey County Cricket commmented that the level of competiton was extremely high and a huge leap from the previous year.

Cricket Team gives a spirited performance

Record numbers are set to take part in this year’s cricket competitions at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games. All 33 boroughs will be represented in the 2010 competition, consisting of 886 youngsters, 14 of which are Kingston cricketers selected to represent the borough and win a place in the finals at Lords Cricket Ground.

A former participant in the London Youth Games is newly-appointed Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown. Speaking at last year’s Cricket Cup Finals, Hamilton-Brown said: “It is great to come back to an event that I played in and one which helped my development as a player.

“I thought the standard of cricket was superb and I’m delighted to see how boys’ and girls’ cricket has continued to grow at the Games.”
Kingstons players hope they can follow in the footsteps of fellow Surrey based Hamilton-Brown.
