Adidas London Mini Marathon Sunday 13 April 2008

44 runners and 1 wheelchair racer represented The Royal Borough of Kingston in the 2008 London Mini Marathon. The young athletes from Kingston ran the last 3 miles of the main marathon course, running past Big Ben and finishing at Buckingham Palace. The competitors had an amazing experience racing against the other 33 London Boroughs in 8 different categories. All children behaved and competed in a manor that should make Kingston proud.

The Kingston team all did extremely well and enjoyed the opportunity to meet Phillips Idowu the reigning European Triple Jump gold medallist at the start line.

Well done to the following athletes; Max Caulfield who came 8th in his age group (Boys 11-12), Faye Holder who came 13th in her age group (11-12) and Madeleine Garner who came 18th in her age group (Girls 15-17) and 29th in all girls' age groups.

A special congratulations goes to Jack Binstead and Harriet Preedy. Jack took part in the wheelchair race and came 2nd in his age group (11-12) and 5th overall; Harriet came 3rd in the 11-12 year old girls age group and 21st in all girls’ age groups. Many top athletes started their careers doing the London Mini Marathon, so look out for these names in the future!
