Kingston Archer in Action The Girls Netball Team with their Bronze Medals
London Youth Games 2008
As five weeks of action featuring 25,000 young Londoners came to a close this weekend, those children selected to represent Team Kingston can hold their heads high having contributed to the boroughs final position of fourteenth out of the thirty-three boroughs competing. The competitors had trained very hard leading up to the finals and looked very smart & colourful with blazing red t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts. Seemingly the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rohan Yoganathans’ visit inspired the young competitors at Crystal Palace with the netball team pivoting their way to a bronze medal, apparently rubbing off on Duncan Garner as he quickly snapped up the bronze in archery. The highlight of the weekend though was left to Jess Cosson as she coolly saw off the competition to walk away with the top prize of gold in archery. Other notable performances over the five weeks of competition were bronze for Thomas Gibbs in gymnastics, silver for the gymnastic boy’s artistic team, 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze for the Karate Team and 2 gold medals in Disability Athletics to Jonathan Smith. Alan Booth won gold in the Disability Swimming Event.
