London Youth Games Disability Sports 2007
This years Kingston London Youth Games Disability teams did really well. It was a big improvement form last year as they picked up 12 medals instead of only the two which they picked up last year.
On the 24 May 2007 the Boccia team competed at Westway Sports Centre. The team competed well and were awarded for their effort by coming 13 out of 33 boroughs. This was a great achievement and everyone came away happy with the result of the day.
On the 6 June 2007 the Disability Football team competed at Regents Park. They all did really well and competed hard. They finished 15th out of 33 boroughs. This was a great achievement and everyone came away happy with the result of the day.
On the 14 June 2007, the Kingston Disability Swimming Team competed at the Beckenham Spa. It was a very successful day for the team as everyone tried their hardest. Each member picked up a medal. This was a great achievement. Lucy Barnes picked up gold and a bronze medal, Emma O’Brien, Alan Booth and Georgina Harris all picked up silver medals and Gary Haynes picked up two bronze medals.
On the 19 June 2007, the Kingston Disability Athletics Team competed in the London Youth Games. They travelled by minibus to the Mile End Stadium. The team were very excited and very determined to do well. This showed as everyone competed well and really enjoyed themselves. We came out of it with two gold’s, one silver and two bronze medals. The medallists were Anthony Austen who picked up gold for the shot put, Jonathan Smith who picked up gold in the 100m and 200m for wheelchair racers, Jordan Bragoli who picked up a bronze medal for the 400m and Jonathan White who also picked up a Bronze medal for the long jump. This was a great achievement. Both the boys and girls teams improved on last years results.
