Surrey based artist, Margaret Haslam, produces a range of pottery made exclusively for the museum by a traditional method called slip-trailing.

My style, she says, is based on my love of the traditional folk decoration of English slipware, with its humour, lovely colours and bright shiny glaze. My techniques were used in the 16^th century—coloured clay is piped onto the surface of the clay pot, rather like icing a cake, then everything is covered with a shiny glaze to bring out the colours.

The museum range features the three salmon from the Kingston coat of arms and is produced in two colours – cream and blue.
