A competition launched by the Friends of Kingston Museum and Heritage Service on 27 January 2006 , will both honour the memory of a fine local photographer and also enrich the Royal Borough's photographic archive held in the Local History Room.
The Friends wanted to establish a permanent memorial to New Malden photographer, Les Kirkin and a photographic competition seemed the most appropriate. The Friends launched the competition at a packed event in the Museum and are now inviting entries.
The competition will be held every year and is open to individuals (children and adults), schools, colleges and community groups. There will be prizes for the four entries considered the best but the real prize will be the inclusion of dozens of photographs in Kingston's Local History Collection as a permanent record for present and future generations to enjoy and learn from.

Take a picture/s on this theme over the next twelve months (preferred size 7 x 7 or 10 x 8 inches) and send to The Friends of Kingston Museum & Heritage Service, c/o North Kingston Centre, Richmond Road, Kingston upon Thames KT2 5PE.
