The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames has a rich archaeological heritage. Our Ancient Origins gallery displays many of the items from the Palaeolithic Period through to the Pagan Saxon period. Flint artefacts from the Thames, Bronze weaponry dating from 900BC, Roman coins and a Pagan Saxon human burial are all features of this gallery.

Kingston Museum holds a significant collection of Muybridge's photographic work along with items of equipment such as the zoopraxiscope. A full catalogue entitled Eadweard Muybridge, the Kingston Museum Bequest was published in 2004 and is available from the Museum shop. There is also an online catalogue.

Kingston Museum's Town of Kings Gallery was opened in November 1997 and traces the history of Kingston's people and its Royal connections from the time of the crowning of the seven Anglo-Saxon Kings through to more recent times.
