Friends of the Museum

Registered Charity No. 1007175
The Friends were founded in 1992 to support the work of Kingston Museum and Heritage Service in promoting the Borough's royal and ancient heritage.  The Friends, as a registered charity, provide support in a number of ways including volunteer help and fund-raising for special projects.

Kingston's historic collections are unique. Please help us continue our support so that schools, residents and visitors can enjoy them now and in the future.

Included in the benefits of joining the Friends are:

  • receipt of the museum's quarterly newsletter
  • the opportunity to take part in a number of events, special activities and lecture programmes
  • a special discount in the museum shop
  • invitations to private views

The Johanna Norton Fund

Johanna Norton at the museum's reception desk

The Friends have set up a fund to commemorate the Museum's late colleague, Johanna (Jo) Norton, who sadly died in 2006.  Jo had worked in the Museum for many years.  She was known to all its visitors and we wanted to set up a permanent memorial in her name that would recognise her enthusiasm and commitment to Kingston, especially to the Museum.

The Friends have therefore launched a fund to be used to purchase items for the Museum, Local Studies and Archive Collections, as and when suitable items become available.  We are confident that many of the Museum's supporters will wish to contribute to the fund which will have positive benefits for the service.

Please send donations made payable to the Friends of Kingston Museum & Heritage Service to:
