Kingston Youth Book Award

After much consideration and thoughtful voting by our Youth Book Groups and library users we can proudly announce that the winner of the third Kingston Youth Book Award is The Recruit by Robert Muchamore.

front cover of Recruit
This is the first book in his hugely popular Cherub series which follows a school of spy kids on their dangerous missions around the world.

For more information about Cherub & Robert Muchamore log onto the cherubcampus website.

However, another book from the shortlist was also highly commended, with only one less vote than the Recruit. This was Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin.  This is a fantastic book which also deserves it’s place on the shortlist.

The Cherub series, Elsewhere and the other titles from this year’s shortlist are all available from branches of Kingston Libraries.

The other four books on the shortlist were ranked as follows:

3rd: Missing Judy by Anne Cassidy

4th: The Remarkable life and Times of Eliza Rose by Mary Hooper

5th: The Road of the Dead by Kevin Brooks

6th: Tanglewreck by Jeanette Winterson
