Summer Reading Challenge 2008 "Team Read"

A very successful Kingston Libraries Team Read Presentation was held at the Council Chambers on Saturday 27 September.  Children across the borough were invited to read or listen to 6 books and received a variety of prizes during the summer holidays. DC Leisure supplied free swim and play vouchers, The Chelsea Building Society donated 35 £10 vouchers and Kent Book Company a £200 voucher for the school prize.  Mayor David Berry handed the £10 vouchers to children who had been picked in a prize draw and Fern Hill School won the overall school prize.  The children and their parents were also entertained by puppeteer, Stephen Novy.  A record number of children entered the Team Read this year, with over 2000 children in Kingston taking part in the annual reading challenge.
