PLAYAWAY!
No not the children’s television programme but a new collection of recorded books. These need no cassette or CD player just a set of headphones, which we can supply at a cost of £1.50 , or use your own. A small box contains all you need just plug in the headphones, press power and play and listen. They cost 60p to hire for 3 weeks – free to senior citizens and those with sight problems. We supply rechargeable batteries which are returned with the unit. So come in and check the display in the library and be one of the first to try this new way of reading.
Regular events at the library
Silver Surfers Club
This drop in internet computer club, aimed at the over 50’s runs fortnightly from 10am - 12pm in the IT Suite at Surbiton Library. The club is run in co-operation with Kingston U3A and Age Concern Kingston. There is a small charge of £1 per visit. These are not 'taught' sessions but somewhere to get help and advice on the internet, email or any other PC quandaries. New members are welcome but more will be gained if the rudiments of basic computer skills, have been acquired. So come along, learn new skills, and make new friends.
