Hook and Chessington Library


Has re-opened in the new building on the site of the old building in Hook Road, Chessington KT9 1EJ. The library has level access from the car park and from Hook Road and is on the ground floor of the building.
The ground floor has a cafe, as well as housing Chessington Care and a Citizens Advice Bureau.
The first floor is accesible by lift, and gives access to the Community Hall, IT Training Suite and Recording Studio.
There is an accessible toilet for disabled users and also public toilets.

Kingston Adult Library


Wheelchair ramp at front door. Automatic opening front doors. No stairs anywhere in the building. Height adjustable computer desk available
Kingston Children's Library

New Malden Library


Fully accessible for wheelchair users with a ramp to the front entrance, automatic entrance doors and a lift to the first floor. A CCTV magnifier is available in the IT Learning Centre on the first floor. Height adjustable computer desk available

Old Malden Library


Ramp at front door. Bell on front door for wheelchairs users. Double doors will allow wheelchair access. No stairs in the building. Height adjustable computer desk available

Surbiton Library


Ramp up to front door, the inner doors are automatic opening with the outer doors secured open when the library is open. Disabled toilet facilities. No steps anywhere in library. Height adjustable computer desk available.
Surbiton Library Annexe has a lift to the first floor and a ramp up to the entrance plus a wheelchair accessible toilet

Tolworth Community Library and IT learning centre


Front door opens with button push. Height adjustable computer desk in IT Room. Ramp at rear for emergency access. Disabled toilet.

Tudor Drive Library


Level access. Automatic double doors. Accessible toilet for disabled users. Height adjustable computer desk available.

Accessibility Equipment and Books

All computers for use by the public have at least some accessiblity features.

Available computer software includes:

Jaws screen reader

Supernova screen magnifier and reader

Cicero scanning software is available in some branches.

All computers have headphones available.

A range of accessible hardware such as adaptive keyboards and mice can be made available. Please contact branches for further details.

A CCTV magnifier is available at New Malden Library - this is currently in the IT Learning Centre on the first floor.  A further CCTV magnifier will be provided in the new Hook Centre library.

All branches have spoken word cassettes and CDs.

We will be launching a downloadable eBook lending service soon, and hope to include audio eBooks as well when they become available to download for lending purposes.
