Arts Development in Schools

KMAS (Kingston Music and Arts Service)

Kingston Music and Arts Service (KMAS) initiates and manages arts projects in schools through after-school clubs, music and dance festivals. The Service also provides instrumental music tuition and the opportunity to participate in a range of bands, orchestras and ensembles. KMAS is a non-profit making organisation that receives funding from the Royal Borough of Kingston and the Department for Education and Skills.

The London Schools Arts Service (LONSAS) and London Education and Arts Partnership (LEAParts) probably offer the most comprehensive information and resources for teachers working in the arts. Other useful contacts can be found in the A to Z arts directory for schools detailed below.

A one stop shop of opportunities, infromation and new for s for education providers and artists working in London. If you are looking to create your own project in school, the LONSAS website offers a step-by-step guide. Their arts database provides information on artists who have worked in an education setting, all artists on the register have had a disclosure check and references from at least two schools. Artists and art organisation can become part of the LONSAS database to promote their work in schools and can advertise arts in education opportunities through LONSAS news services.

A pan-London arts in education organisation. It is funded by Arts Council London and brings together artists and educators to share ideas and good practice. It's remit includes developing arts education, building networks, creating partnerships, sharing ideas, celebrating diversity and facilitating professional development. LEAParts hosts three networks that caters for early years, schools and education managers.
