We offer Powerboating Courses to RYA level 1 and RYA level 2. The crafts used in conjunction with these courses are Jeaneau Rescue Boat, Rigid Hull Inflatable and Dory.
The RYA Level 1 Introduction to Powerboating Course is a one day training course which will provide you with instruction of basic powerboat handling skills and theory to enable you to handle a powered craft with greater confidence. The course will focus on the launch and safe recovery of the powerboat, safety equipment, engines and basic fault finding and good practise and practical boat handling sessions. This course is mainly practical based and so will mostly take place afloat. Designed for complete beginners. This course is available on request only.
The RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate Course is designed to enable you to develop into a competent powerboat driver to include basic skills and background knowledge. You will cover high and low speed manoeuvres, launch and recovery from a road trailer and seamanship skills such as anchoring, emergency stops and man overboard recovery technique. Ideally for applicants who have already attended the Level 1 Course. This course is available on request only.
The RYA Safety Boat Course is designed for individuals or groups that are involved in sailing clubs and teaching establishments on inland waters, covering techniques used in powerboats to provide safety cover and assistance with race management. The course is held over two days and includes training demonstrations of how to effectively recover and tow capsized dinghies, rescue windsurfers, kayaks, canoes and stricken powerboats. Theoretical topics will include suitability of craft, safety guidelines and communication systems, and considerations when rescuing other craft and personnel. Course applicants must hold the National Powerboat Certificate. This course is available on request only.
