Open Canoe
These courses offer British Canoe Union (BCU) 1, 2 and 3 Star Training
During the 1 star training you will get to grips with the basic strokes and skills required to handle an open canoe safely in a simple river environment, designed for complete beginners.
The 2 star training is designed as an Improvers course to add to already aquired skills including an aspect of journeying. Course applicants must be able to apply basic strokes or previously attended a BCU 1 star course.
The 3 star training is an Intermediate course which will equip participants with the theoretical and practical elements covering new skills, boat handling techniques, reinforcing and polishing strokes already acquired. This course will also involve rescue training and workshops towards developing a flatwater roll. Course applicants should have already completed the Improvers course or hold a BCU 2 star Award.
