Information about the Housing Sounding Board

What Is The Housing Sounding Board And How Does It Work?

The Housing Sounding Board is a database or record of all council tenants and leaseholders in the borough of Kingston who are interested in being consulted, or want to have a say in how the home they live in and the area around them are managed.

Residents who have registered on the Housing Sounding Board will be contacted from time to time and asked for their views and opinions regarding speciifc topics.

These views will be collated and passed to senior officers, as well as members of our formal panels and other groups to help make right decisions.

Who Can Join?

All Kingston Council Housing tenants and leaseholders are entitled to register on the Housing Sounding Board. In addition, anyone else who lives on an estate or in a block that is managed by Kingston Housing can register. This includes freeholders and tenants and leaseholders.

We are also keen to hear the views of the younger people who live on our estates so there is no age limit. If your children want to register on the Housing Sounding Board they can.

Why You Should Get Involved?

You could let us know how you thin the services you receive could be made more efficient. You could make a real difference to the area you live in and improve the feeling of community.

People who are involved are better informed and training is available to help you find your way round our organisation and improve your confidence.

What Are The Different Ways You Can Get Involved?

As well as joining residents' groups or formal panels, you can give us your views in a wide range of ways such as:

  • responding to postal and telephone surveys
  • joining focus or working groups
  • attending conferences
  • responding to website or email contact
  • going to exhibitions or surgeries

What About If You Are Only Interested In One Particular Issue?

The Housing Sounding Board offers you a chance to decide which issues you want to talk to us and be contacted about.

You can choose from a list that includes:

  • investment needs for council housing
  • antisocial behaviour
  • repairs and improvements
  • caretaking
  • grounds maintenance
  • services for young people
  • leaseholder services
  • performance monitoring
  • arrangements for resident involvement

Keeping In Touch

Everyone who is registered on the Housing Sounding Board will be sent details of events, training courses and general news and information about resident participation in Kingston.
