SHiFT line managers resource

The excellent "Line Managers' Resource" document provides practical advice and information for managers.

This document can be downlaoded or ordered through the SHiFT website. It includes:

  • Information on identifying warning signs of mental ill health and what to do
  • Advice on creating an environment that promotes mental wellbeing
  • What to do when staff are off sick and helping them return to work
  • Advice on supporting staff who are managing an ongoing illness at work.

Sick Note to Fit Note

The traditional 'sick note' has now been replaced with a new Fitness for Work statement or 'Fit Note'

This site explains the difference nad how this can impact on your business and the wellbeing of your staff.

MIND Mental Health at work

Mind have produced an Employers Guide which introduces employers to issues and gives pointers on improving workplace mental health and reducing the cost of sick leave to your business.

The equality and human rights commission produce a range of resources that enable mangers to provide and inclusive workplace. These guides can be downloaded from the website.

    Time to Challenge

    The Time to Change campaign's secion for employers offers clear information and simple advice to help employers support staff with mental health problems. The pages include different mental health problems, legal information, tips for reducing stress in the workplace and knowing how to support an employee through a period of mental ill-health.
