Health Scrutiny
From January 2003, the Government required Local Authorities to scrutinise Health Service provision in their area. The Royal Borough of Kingston (RBK) set up a Health Overview and Scrutiny Panel to carry out this function. The Panel has been meeting regularly since November 2002.
In broad terms, the main aim of Health Scrutiny is to act as a lever to improve the health of local people in its widest sense. It is about looking at the whole health system, not just services provided, commissioned or managed by the NHS..
