Accidents and Falls

What you can do and where to get help and information

Over 400,000 older people in England attend A&E Departments following an accident. As a result people can lose confidence in being able to move about, become less mobile and more isolated, get infections or become more dependent.  You can find useful links to external websites at the bottom of this page.

What Kingston Council and partners are doing

Kingston Primary Care Trust, the Royal Borough of Kingston and Age Concern have together developed a Falls Strategy for Kingston. This aims to ensure that:

  • All staff in contact with potential fallers have the skills and ability to identify those at risk of falling and refer them to appropriate services
  • All people identified as at risk of falling have timely access to appropriate services.
  • To raise awareness and prevent falls in the community and in local services by improving the environment in which those at risk are living.

The Road Safety team aims to reduce road casualties through a programme of training, education, and publicity. To help us achieve our aims we organise activities and share information on a wide range of topics.

For general information about our Road Safety activities and initiatives, please contact the Road Safety Education Officer via email road.safety@rbk.kingston.gov.uk or call 020 8547 5865.
