Fully wheelchair accessible buses operate a limited service on various routes in the Borough. Most routes have 'hail and ride' sections. All terminate in Kingston centre at Union Street and link directly with the Shopmobility Scheme.

Through the Motability Contract Hire Scheme, you can get a new car and adaptations, fully insured, serviced and maintained, with road rescue services included, simply by transferring your higher rate DLA to Motability. An HP Scheme and Powered Wheelchair Scheme are also available. Anyone who gets the Higher Rate Disability Living Allowance for a long enough period qualifies- even children from the age of 5. You do not have to be a driver to get a car- a relative or friend can drive for you.

Blue Badge Scheme (Formerly Orange Badge Parking Scheme)

The Crescent Resource Centre in New Malden

If your child is over 2 and has a high level of disability, you may be able to obtain a blue badge on their behalf. This allows disabled people or their carers to park in places where others are not allowed, close to shops and other facilities. The badge costs £2 and you will need two passport sized photos of the child with the disability.

Central London Congestion Charge

If you or your child are a Blue/Orange Badge holder you will not have to pay the charge, provided you register with Transport for London and make an initial one-off payment of £10.00. Information and registration forms can be obtained at:
