Private Fostering

Private Fostering

The council is responsible for checking on the welfare of all privately fostered children, and for giving advice to those who do the caring.  A privately fostered child is defined as being under 16 (or 18 if disabled) and cared for and provided with accommodation for 28 days or more by someone who is not a close relative or guardian (Close relatives are grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles but not parents' cousins).

If you are considering asking someone else to look after your child, or you are being asked to care or are caring for a child, please contact the ASKK Team for advice.
