Litter Bins

Litter and Rubbish Bins

We are responsible for emptying all litter bins in the borough and clearing litter from all public pavements and highways. Enquiries about damaged or over flowing litter bins can be made by contacting us on the details provided below.

New Litter Bins

You can request new litter bins by contacting us. Requests will be considered individually, depending on the area and existing emptying routes.

After a request comes in, an officer will inspect the site and assess whether a site requires a bin. If the request is approved then the officer will provide a works order to install a new litter bin.

New litter bins are most likely to be approved in areas near to:

  • schools, colleges and universities
  • bus stops
  • shops, newsagents and shopping parades
  • other areas where a large amount of rubbish is generated

We do not encourage litter bins being installed on residential roads.

Replacing Damaged Litter Bins

You can request replacements for damaged bins by contacting us. An officer will identify the type of bin and produce a works order to get the bin removed and replaced with a new bin. If the bin has been pulled out of the ground or studs are showing then the officer will produce a works order and make sure that the site has been made safe with a cone over the site.
