We are responsible for street cleaning throughout the Borough on all-public roads and pavements. This excludes some private roads.
The cleaning consists of the collection and removal of all litter and dirt including grit, detritus, debris, leaves, dead vegetation, excreta, cans, cartons, paper, debris from road traffic accidents and any other waste matter from the highways.
The frequency of cleansing varies from continuous daily town centres to fortnightly in most residential streets.
The council has a statutory duty to remove any motor vehicle abandoned on any land, or highway in the open air and is also working with the Police Borough-wide to try and combat the crime of graffiti and fly-tipping
