Refuse and Recycling Consultation

The online refuse and recycling collection survey has now closed.

Nearly 1,000 people took part - thank you to everyone who took the time to tell us what they think.

The views of residents will play an important part in determining how the refuse and recycling collection service will be provided in the future.  In addition to the online survey, a number of other consultation activities have been taking place over the last month to help the Council gauge residents’ opinion on this important subject.  These include:

  • A full-day workshop group of 33 residents (carefully recruited by Ipsos MORI to represent a broad cross-section of the Borough) was held on Saturday 29 September 2007 at the Holiday Inn, Chessington.  The day was chaired by Ipsos MORI, and attended by Council Officers and the Executive Member for Environment and Sustainability.  Feedback from the day is currently being analysed, but it was clear that a thoroughly informative and enjoyable day was had by all
  • More than 30 representatives of Resident and Tenant Associations in the Borough have been involved in group discussions held at Hotel Antoinette, Kingston
  • More than 20 key stakeholders (representatives of environmental and other relevant voluntary groups) are being interviewed by Ipsos MORI on a one-to-one basis
  • Households involved in the Berrylands Refuse and Recycling Trial and the first phase of the Orange Sack Recycling Trial for Flats have been returning their postal surveys in their hundreds.

All feedback is being treated in the strictest of confidence by and independent research company, Ipsos MORI, and the results reported back to the Council fairly and fully.
