Why Recycle?

Recycling reduces the demand for raw materials from our environment as well the amount of energy used. Adding recycled material to raw material in a new product often reduces the amount of energy required in the production process.

A few reasons why we should recycle:

  • every tonne of recycled paper saves 17 trees
  • the same amount of energy required to make 20 recycled cans is used to make one new one
  • enough energy is saved by recycling one aluminium can to run a TV set for three hours
  • using less energy reduces harmful green house gasses.

When you recycle you help reduce pollution and lessen the impact on waste disposal and landfill sites. Landfills are expensive to operate and require aftercare for many years following closure in order to monitor harmful gases and contaminated water.
