In addition to the recycling facilities provided by the Royal Borough of Kingston, here is a list other facilities for reusing and recycling materials in the Kingston area.
These are listed in alphabetical order for different materials.
Need a new home for anything from a PC, bike, chair, and many other items? Send an email offering it to your Freecycle group.
If you're looking to get something for yourself, reply to another member's offer and they might choose you as their item’s new owner. You can also post wanted adverts for things you need.
All you have to do then is arrange a time and place for collection – it’s that simple!
Visit the Kingston Freecycle Group website at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/freecycle-kingston for more information.

Please do not put waste cooking oil down the drain.
You can mop up extra oil / fat with bread and put it out for the birds. If you have a larger quantity you can make a ‘fat ball’ by following the recipe below.
Fat balls are easy to make and birds love them. You can also donate them to your local wildlife trust.
- Step 1: Heat your excess fat (e.g. dripping, trex, lard – any fat that will solidify)
- Step 2: Cool slightly and add mixed birdseed, raisins, unsalted peanuts, or small pieces of leftover cake or bread.
- Step 3: Wedge a piece of lolly stick with string tied around it into an old ‘Tupperware’ bowl or yoghurt pot.
- Step 4: Pour in the mixture, leaving the other end of string outside the pot.
- Step 5: Put pots in the fridge and allow to set completely
- Step 6: Hang out for the birds using the sting to tie the fat ball to a branch.
If you have too much oil for this allow the fat to solidify, put in an old tin and put this in with your general rubbish.
