Garden waste service 2011/2012Whether you’ve got a compact courtyard or a croquet lawn, Kingston Council has a Garden Waste Service that meets your needs.
From March 2011, green-fingered residents will be able to choose from two levels of service:
| Option | Container | Collection | Annual Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wheelie bin (240 Litre) |
Emptied every two weeks on the same day as your landfill waste |
£69 per wheelie bin (max. three) (£59 for concessions*) |
| Wheelie bin (Re-subscription) |
As above (only applicable to current bin subscribers) |
£53 per wheelie bin (max. three) (£43 for concessions*) |
|
| 2 |
Bio-degradable bags (sold in rolls of 10) |
Collected every two weeks on the same day as your landfill waste |
£25 per roll of 10 bags (£22 for concessions*) |
* This applies to residents aged 60 or over
The annual charge covers the period 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012. Re-subscription rate applies until 31 March 2011.
Collections for 2011/12 start week commencing 4 April 2011. If you join the service after 1 October 2011, a reduced rate of £45 per wheelie bin (£38 concessions) will apply.
Gardeners with large grounds to maintain can have up to three wheelie bins that are emptied fortnightly. At the other end of the scale, those with small gardens may find that a roll of 10 bags is adequate for a year's worth of prunings.
Stickers will be sent out to subscribers and re-subscribers of the garden waste bin option, residents are advised to place the stickers on the front of the bin under the Kingston Council logo. Failure to do so will mean that your bin will not be emptied If you already have a sticker on your bin, please either remove it, or place the new sticker on top.
